The drug Olmesartan Medoxomil is primarily used to treat high blood pressure levels. It works by preventing the effect of the angiotensen II hormone. This hormone results in blood vessel contraction, which results in higher pressure of the blood. Olmesartan Medoxomil works by helping blood vessels to relax and expand, thereby lowering blood pressure.

This contains Hydrochlorothiazide, which enhances output of water from the body by way of urine. If you are taking water pills then the drop in BP is more predominant. Too much of a drop in BP can cause faintness, giddiness, feeling light-headed and other symptoms associated with a low BP.

If you sweat excessively or are vomiting, experiencing diarrhea then it can reduce water levels in the body. Make sure if the weather is too hot or if you are exercising a lot that your body fluids do not deplete too much. Hence, consumption of Olmesartan Medoxomil in such cases should be avoided. If you have had a history of bronchial asthma then too consumption of Olmesartan Medoxomil should be taken with caution.

In cases of diabetes, lupus, kidney diseases or gout, the HCT and normal formulations of Olmesartan Medoxomil should be taken cautiously. These active pharmaceutical ingredients are known to result in kidney failure. Even if you do not have any obvious symptoms of diabetes, the drug Olmesartan Medoxomil can cause it.
